What Made TransFin 2008 The Must-Attend Global Transport Finance Event Of The Year?
"I was extremely impressed with both the level of people you invited, but also the way the event was put together. I was very honored to be part of the event’"
Mike Restuccia
Chairman Of The Board Of Retirement
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION
TransFin is a global transport and infrastructure finance conference. With nearly 300 attendees, 48 presentations, 14 discussion panels, 6 champagne roundtables, 12 cocktail/lunch/networking breaks and 90 speakers, TransFin 2008 was a record breaking year. In contrast to the atmosphere felt at private equity conferences across the globe, the mood at TransFin was upbeat, if with a tinge, in the words of chairman Nick Bliss, of ‘cautious optimism’.
Investor And Infrastructure Fund Summit
‘The investment summit was great, great speakers and a good, relaxed atmosphere which made it much more conducive for networking’
Jane Seto
Managing Director
RREEF INFRASTRUCTURE
One question which arose early in the conference was whether the market is still faces the challenge of too much cash chasing too few deals. Responses were mixed with the majority of funds agreeing that although there is less cash available than 3 years ago, capital is still available. In light of the liquidity crisis, emerging markets also appeared high on investor agendas with particularly interesting references to India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Another area of discussion surrounded 100% equity deals – a topic that will be continued at TransFin 2009.
