  • Joe Dear was appointed Executive Director of the Washington State Investment Board in November, 2002. He serves as the Board’s Chief Executive Officer, overseeing a staff of 65 that implements the Board’s investment policy decisions. The WSIB manages $80.1 billion within 36 funds. Formerly he served as Government Relations Officer for Frank Russell Company, Chief Of Staff for Governor Gary Locke, Assistant Secretary Of Labour for the U. S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Director of the Washington State Department of Labour and Industries. Joe was a member on the Washington State Investment Board from 1987 to 1992, and served as Board chair from 1989 to 1991. Joe serves on the Boards of the Council of Institutional Investors, Pacific Pension Institute, Millstein Centre for Corporate Governance and Performance, Economic Opportunity Institute, the College Success Foundation, and The Evergreen State College Foundation. As of 3 March 2009, Joe will take up his new position as Chief Investment Officer at CalPERS.

  • Mr Rubenstein co-founded the firm in 1987. Since then, Carlyle has grown into a firm managing more than $70 billion from 30 offices around the world.
