Event History
Where Have We Come From?
ICBI has held a strong portfolio of energy conferences for over 15 years with previous events including Electricity in Europe, European Utilities and Gas And Power Risk. After over a decade of development, Sparks & Flames emerged alongside its sister event Flame. Where Flame is Europe’s largest conference to focus on gas and LNG, Sparks & Flames takes a wider, bird’s eye view of the entire energy industry. From oil prices and gas storage to solar power and power generation assets, Sparks & Flames offers an outlook across the gas and power spectrum in the mornings of the event while afternoons allow delegates and speakers the opportunity to choose from a variety of themed discussion groups and presentations in order to drill down into some of the more technical aspects of the gas and power industry.
Who Else Attends Sparks & Flames?
Sparks & Flames typically attracts a very high portion of Gas and Power Traders, Carbon Traders and Energy Analysts, as well as Business Development Executives, Managing Directors of Energy Companies as well as Energy Lawyers, academics and consultants. The event has taken place in the Netherlands for the past 15 years and as a result has a large Dutch delegate and speaker base. Whilst Sparks focuses on European gas and power markets, the global nature of energy dynamics has resulted in an increasing number of international delegates in recent years.
What Makes Sparks & Flames A Unique Experience?
Sparks & Flames is no different to other ICBI events which pride themselves on up-to-date, content driven agendas written after months of market researc. This year, over 100 Energy Traders/Analysts, Business Development Executives and Consultants were invited to offer their critical comment on the agenda and their perspective on what’s hot in 2009.
In addition to the intensive conference agenda, Sparks and Flames prides itself on the intimate nature of the event. With 250 attendees on average the event is highly conducive to networking. In order to maximise on each and every business prospect at the event, we have invited delegates for the first time to join speakers on the intellectual platform through industry hubs where presentations are limited to just 5 slides and 15 minutes. After 4 such presentations, delegates are invited to join with speakers in a 30 minute discussion forum where presenters can be openly challenged on ideas previously presented.
