Event History
FLAME LATIN AMERICA: A Short HistoryWhere Have We Come From?ICBI is proud to launch Flame LatAm in November 2009 in Rio. Flame LatAm stems from "Flame", Europe's premier gas & LNG event. With the recent winfall of profits and discoveries in off-shore oil and gas in Brazil, alongside the increasing number of LNG projects and pipeline developments in the Southern Cone, Flame LatAm promises to bring together leading national & internationl oil & gas companies, investors and financiers, regulators & governments, consumers and energy experts to debate, network and stay ahead of the game. ICBI first launched it's European Flame conference in March 1994 and has been held annually in Amsterdam in The Netherlands, making the 2009 event its 15th year running – as such, it is one of Europe's longest running gas event for mid and downstream gas players. In its early years, it attracted about 250 attendees but grew rapidly and is now the largest event of its kind in Europe with over 800 global energy CEOs, board members, strategists, advisors, academics and other leading experts participating each year. Intellectual capital has always been the cornerstone of ICBI's value proposition – and this is clearly reflected in the Flame LatAm agenda. A 2 day main conference will be acompanied by a pre-conference summit day focusing on LNG and a couple of post summit workshops. How Has The Event Agenda Evolved For Flame In Europe? When we first launched Flame the focus was two-pronged; However, whilst these two elements remain at the heart of the event, the agenda quickly expanded to cover a much wider focus especially as LNG is globalising the gas market – we now pride ourselves in being the premier European meeting place for the global energy industry. Indeed the original 2 stream format has now been superseded by a 4 stream event focusing on the wide range of challenges and opportunities faced by up, mid and downstream players. For example, some of the core areas include: - Where Will Europe's Gas Supplies Come From? Hear From Norway, Qatar, Africa, Russia - Prices: Rising Oil Prices, Gas To Gas Pricing And Oil Indexation - The Outlook For The Global Economy & Implications For The Energy Markets - The Global LNG Markets: Pricing, Arbitrage, Shipping, Spot Markets, Liquefaction & Reg Terminal Updates - Gas Competition & Regulation: Update On 3rd Directive And Consolidating Markets - Pipeline Infrastructure Update: BBL, Nabucco, Nordstream, Medgaz - Gas Demand: Where Is Gas Going To And The Impact Of Climate Change An The Future Fuel Mix – Impact On Gas Of Coal, Carbon, EU ETS - Future Of Contracts: Long & Short Term - Examining The Upstream Impact Of Increased Costs - Meeting The 202020 Targets: Are They Achievable? - Flexibility Tools: Storage Investment & Trading - Trading & Increasing Liquidity; Hub Development at NBP, TTF, PEG, PSV, EGT - Transportation & Transit - Overcoming Cross Border Barriers & Creating A Single Market For The Free Flow Of Gas Audience ProfileThe event typically attracts up to 900 attendees from over 30 different countries and from Europe, U.S Asia and the Far East.
